"Eulis is an amazing teacher.
He is vibrant, encouraging, and gives great examples (and often humorous) examples to help better understand working the voice.
In just my very first lesson, he pinpointed huge holes in my singing that I never even noticed before in recordings of myself, and attuned each exercise specific to my needs.
I'm looking forward to improving with him!
(and he definitely deserves all five stars)"

"I highly recommend Eulis. I'm an experienced singer in the middle of an album project, and I was able to take away some huge tips I was able to put into practice immediately. His ears are incredibly sensitive and can hear what's going on with you in world class form.
Highly recommend!!!"

About Me
Picture
"Welcome to my Teacher page!  Here's a bit about me:
I have been performing as a musician for over 20 years and acting since I was a small boy. I started my musical education as a woodwind player and settled in to the wonderful world of singing to find more of a personal challenge. Music has opened up so many opportunities for me throughout the years, from touring the world to performing in marvelous concert halls and working with some of today's most respected artists, as well as giving me the opportunity to expand my performance through acting in various
plays, musicals, television, and film."

"Music has been my salvation! Throughout my life it has been a best friend and constant source of joy, and I share this gift with others so that it might help them to find the same joy. After nearly 20 years of teaching, I have so many experiences to draw from and share with my students. I spent 9 years performing with Disney in California and abroad in their Tokyo Disney cast, and I must say that those experiences, being so vast and varied, gave the word "performance" a new depth.
I'm always excited to dive into every lesson with fresh ideas that will mesh well with many tried and tested teaching techniques."

My Voice/Speech Teaching Style
Over the past several years I have focused much of my personal growth on developing my ears' ability to pick out and pinpoint vocal “placement”, resonance, subtleties of timbre, changes in pitch, breath support, air speed and flow, pronunciation and diction, and, in general, the way in which all of these work together to create style.  From these assessments, I work with the student’s particular needs to address each area individually and based on the learning style of each person.

To illustrate to the student their method as I see and hear it, as well as ways in which they might make gentle changes to facilitate the ease of singing --be they changes to the tessitura (range), length of phrase, tone color, the release of unnecessary tension etc.--
I make use of vocalise (vocal exercises), simile and metaphor, examples from recorded performances, demonstration, self assessment, and techniques to “trick” the voice into responding in a different way. From there, the student experiences a new sensation from which they can learn. In addition, I often use videos, diagrams, and texts
on anatomy and physiology as well as physicality to help my more visual/tactile/kinesthetic learners. I feel that all of these tools work together to provide a unique and personalized learning experience for each student.

I stand by the philosophy that most of the progress you will make during our time together will not be with me... not during our sessions; but instead, the majority of the progress you witness will be made in the epiphanies you have on your own, during the time you spend practicing and drilling your specific areas of difficulty. As a teacher, I serve as more of a guide, directing you towards ideas, theories, and concepts that you may or may not have thought of on your own, and helping to expand those ideas in a way that best helps you make them your own.  I also aim to act as a mirror to help you gain an objective view of your progress, challenges,
and to quantify your own views about each technique
and how it affects your performance.

"Originally from Los Angeles, I have spent time on the East Coast, Tokyo,Paris, and now live and teach in Portland, Oregon. I have expanded my studio worldwide with online lessons via video chat as well allowing me to keep learning and sharing my experiences with people from all over the world. I love my job."

If you're interested in learning more about me and my teaching style, feel free to contact me and I'd be happy to talk with you about a plan to help you reach your goals!"
